Mrs Pearlie Dobbins visited relatives and friends last week in Warren. Her sister, Mrs Vinnie Lagan, who has had a long spell of illness, is much improved .....
Mrs. Ida Beavers is improving from a severe illness..... Rosie Lee Dobbins, Josephine O'Hara and several others who are attending school at AM&N College spent the holidays at home with their parents and friends.... Mrs M. B. Green who has been in the hospital in Little Rock has returned home but is yet on the sick list... Mrs Latonia Robinson who has been in Little Rock was home for the holidays...
Mrs. C. S. Smith visited her nephew in Memphis during the holidays.

Hazel V. Smith nee Sloane was the first child of William Andrew Wesley Sloane & Mary Bertha Smith. She was born on 14 November 1906 in Tulip, Dallas County, Arkansas. Hazel met and later married Eddy J. Smith on 20 September 1929 in Dallas County, Arkansas. To this union was born nine, make that thirteen children, all are living except for one five. Hazel died at the age of 75, in August of 1981 in Malvern, Hot Spring County, Arkansas. Hazel was my Great Aunt.

Tombstone Tuesday: Ervin B. Smith

Evern Burnes Smith was born 23 July 1921 in Leola, Grant County, Arkansas to Mack Henry and Cloudia Bell (Giles) Smith. Evern married Elizabeth Johnson, and had three children. Evern died 26 January 1963 in Richmond, California. He is buried in Sunrise Memorial Cemetery, Vallejo, California.

Tombstone Tuesday: Cloudia B. (Giles) Smith

Cloudia Bell Smith, nee Giles was born on 5 November 1898 in Fountain Hill, Ashley County, Arkansas to John Henry and Alice Ophelia (Besely) Giles. She married Mack Henry Smith on 15 September 1917 in Carthage, Dallas County, Arkansas. Cloudia and Mack were my great grandparents and they had fifteen children together.
 I remember seeing Mama Cloudia, as she was called, at my grandmother's house during the holidays as a child; she died when I was 12. I also remember going to her funeral, but not much else about her. Cloudia died on 15 Feb 1985 in San Pablo, Contra Costa County, California. She is buried in Sunrise Memorial Cemetery, along with her husband, Mack; and their daughter Corine Westbrook and son Evern B. Smith.

Tombstone Tuesday: Corine (Smith) Westbrooks

Corine Westbrooks, nee Smith was born on October 21, 1923 in Leola, Grant County, Arkansas. She is the daughter of Mack & Cloudia Bell (Giles) Smith and my grandmother's sister. Corine died today (January 31st) in 1980; in San Francisco, California at the age of 56. Corine was buried in Sunrise Memorial Cemetery, Vallejo, California. Corine is the wife of John Henry Westbrook, who is buried here too.

Mack Henry Smith was my great grandfather. He was born in Tulip, Dallas County, Arkansas on May 6th; the year of birth has been listed as anytime from 1885 up to 1888. He died on 29 May 1964 in Richmond, Contra Costa County, California. He was buried in Sunrise Memorial Cemetery in Vallejo, California.

Tombstone Tuesday: L. C. Smith

L. C. Smith was my grandmother's brother, I don't recall ever meeting him, but I have meet some of his children. He was born 20 November 1925 in Leola, Grant County, Arkansas to Mack & Cloudia (Giles) Smith. He died 16 Apr 1991 in Richmond, Contra Costa County, California.
