Tombstone Tuesday: Willie D. WarrenW
For the next couple of weeks, I will be featuring photos from Toone's Chapel Cemetery, in Tulip, Arkansas in my Tombstone Tuesdays Posts. I took these pictures back in 2004, so the quality isn't that great. Most of the people buried in this cemetery are related to me or my family.
I haven't been able to locate any additional information on Wille Warren, I can only assume he is related to my WARREN line in Dallas County, Arkansas. His death date does fall within War World II, but he doesn't have a military headstone or is listed in the Military collection on Ancestry.com. Any additional information is welcome/

I don't have any additional information on this David Warren. I know that I am related to a David Warren Sr., but the dates on this headstone do not match either the Senior or Junior David Warrens I have in my database.

Tombstone Tuesday: Hazel V. Smith
For the next couple of weeks, I will be featuring photos from Toone's Chapel Cemetery, in Tulip, Arkansas in my Tombstone Tuesdays Posts. I took these pictures back in 2004, so the quality isn't that great. Most of the people buried in the cemetery are related to me or my family.
Hazel V. Smith nee Sloane was the first child of William Andrew Wesley Sloane & Mary Bertha Smith. She was born on 14 November 1906 in Tulip, Dallas County, Arkansas. Hazel met and later married Eddy J. Smith on 20 September 1929 in Dallas County, Arkansas. To this union was born nine, make that thirteen children, all are living except for one five. Hazel died at the age of 75, in August of 1981 in Malvern, Hot Spring County, Arkansas. Hazel was my Great Aunt.

Oscar Hawkins is the 9th child of Junius Hawkins Sr. and Maggie Pattillo Hawkins. Oscar was born in Smith Township, Dallas County, Arkansas and died in Dallas County, Arkansas. He has three living children. Oscar is my second cousin, two times removed.

Hugh Gill Hawkins is the oldest child of Junius Hawkins Sr. and Maggie Pattillo Hawkins. He was born in Dallas County, Arkansas and died in Leola, Grant County, Arkansas. Hugh had six children, two are now deceased. Hugh was my 2nd Cousin, twice removed.

Those Places Thursday: Toones Chapel
Toones Chapel is located in Tulip, Dallas County, Arkansas. It is the name for both the church and the cemetery, that is located on this plot of land. Toones Chapel Church was build in 1914, and is part of the African Methodist Episcopal directory.
I am not sure when the first burial occurred, but, I did find a headstone for Louella Smith; daughter of Alexander & Lucy Smith, who died 06 April 1888. When I photographed the headstones, back in 2004, there were a number of missing and broken headstones. The cemetery is still in use today.
Most of my family from the area, attend the Church and are buried in the Cemetery. The Smith -Sloan Family Reunion is held on the church grounds every July. Below is a Google Map of the current location.
